Wynne Hayakawa | The Life of Trees

Nov 16 — Dec 23, 2022

Opening Reception: Wednesday, November 16th 5:30 – 7:30pm

Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce the 8th exhibition with Wynne Hayakawa.

“Light Streams through from behind the trees. I am grateful that I am able to be here. If I return even an hour later, the light will be different. I record the moment using photography and paint.” – Wynne Hayakawa

Wynne Hayakawa’s new body of work reveals glimpses of trees from Northern California and the Pacific Northwest. Conscious of the changing seasons, Hayakawa records moments in nature with her camera, capturing the movement of trees with slow shutter speeds. Hayakawa archivally prints her photographs on canvas, adding many layers of oil paint to the surface to create abstracted dimension. Her paintings are an evolving process – an interplay of color, light, pattern, and space. Hayakawa hopes her work inspires the viewer to stop, look and breathe for a moment.
