French artist Isabelle Maynard presents her sixth solo show “We all look the Same” with Gallery 60SIX. Maynard is from Toulouse, France. She currently lives and paints in both her home in Toulouse and in Napa Valley, California. 60SIX hosts this  two evening pop up in the heart of North Beach at 1345 Grant ave. San Francisco. (Live Worms gallery space)
In her new body of work, Maynard continues her gestural, psychologically charged landscapes in graphite and oils, and latches onto a world of figurative referents.  Faces emerge and recede from organic forms and washes with a new connection to the human form that breathes light and context into the more abstract moments in her work.  The raw tremble of her charcoal marks, finding some balance between violent and delicate, begin to suggest nerve endings, veins, or scars, an architecture of the physical and emotional history shared by us all. For Maynard, the faces that emerge are representations of different parts of herself, her history and identity, coming in and out of focus.
