Opening Reception: Wednesday, April 13th 5:30 – 7:30pm
Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce the 5th solo exhibition with Suhas Bhujbal.
“In this show, I have included a series of watercolor paintings that show the strength of translucent hues and how they help make the composition more atmospheric.” – Suhas Bhubjal
Suhas Bhujbal finds inspiration in his vast travels, from bustling cities to wild undeveloped landscapes. In his new body of work, Bhujbal highlights the synergy of both environments; urban and untouched.
Bhujbal’s architectural watercolors combine various imagery of doors, windows and buildings he has photographed and sketched during his travels. Bhujbal arranges these elements and varying perspectives to create new cityscapes from his own imagination. The intricate towns are layered in brilliant translucent hues, common in Bhujbal’s work.
Due to the pandemic, Bhujbal’s travels shifted focus towards the natural environment. On a recent trip to Maui, Bhujbal became fascinated by the lush green landscape against vivid blue skies and blooming flowers with intense saturation. This inspired his nature series, which focuses on the dense and abundant foliage from his trips and weekly hikes in the Bay Area.
