Suhas Bhujbal: otherhood

Apr 20 — May 27, 2016

Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce the second solo exhibition of recent paintings by Suhas Bhujbal entitled otherhood.

Suhas Bhujbal is widely known for forming compositions of colorful, overlapping forms depicting various architectural facades.  For his imagery, he employs memories of landscapes and communities from his vast travels abroad while simultaneously reflecting the many neighborhoods that are up – and – coming here within the United States.   Bhujbal utilizes the architecture and the people he observes as tangible inspirations to create specific moods or narratives within each painting.  He emphasizes crowded areas, and large assemblages of people while creating a harmony within bustling urban environments.  Bhujbal is making a visual commentary on the physical modernization taking place in many urban cities around the world.  He juxtaposes old structures along side that of flashy new buildings to further elaborate the eclectic cityscapes of today’s society.
