Laura Smith Blair’s work looks at the natural world with an earnest lens. Her strongest desire is to expose and express the need for climate action as the topography undulates, undoubtedly by our actions. In Northern California we see the devastating effects of climate change in a fire season that has crippled the region for the last few years.
In her current body of work, “Somewhere”, Smith Blair shifts perspective, like a shifting of the lithosphere, and explores the connection we have with our environment. During the past year many have found solace and renewal in quiet places and corners, breathing in nature and letting it refresh us.
