Modern Eden Gallery proudly presents the gallery debut solo exhibition from artist Kate Zambrano. Kate Zambrano’s newest series on found objects breaks tradition from her well-established figurative motifs. These new works explore personal artifacts as metaphor, and a method, for an unfolding process of artistic development. Through this process, the figure is disassembled, contextualized, then rediscovered as something new. RE/FORM is Zambrano’s most intimate, and perhaps most daring work to date. As the artist explains her latest work, “I have spent my career lately making sales to please other people. Trying to cater to what gets the most likes or attention or sells the quickest. After the giant shift on social media, I was left sort of swimming out at sea all alone. My sales dropped off. I stopped garnering attention like usual. All I know how to do is to keep working, so that’s what I did. I threw myself into making work that I wanted to make. The way art should be if we strip the business out of the equation. I pushed myself harder than ever to learn and grow and regain my voice that seemed stifled.”
Kate Zambrano was born in Texas and currently lives in California. After studying Psychology in college she moved to New York City and started a career in modeling. In 2011, she was introduced to the world of fine art. She retired from the fashion industry and spent the subsequent two years teaching herself how to draw. It was a seemingly long and arduous journey to garner techniques through trial and error, but every now and then a small epiphany would occur. Each step was a building block for the next. And so it has gone ever since. She is constantly learning and trying to better both herself and her work. She enjoys applying her major influences together in her art – the systemic urge to understand human behavior and the beauty in expressive nuances.
Modern Eden Gallery welcomes the public on the evening of October 13, 2018 from 6 PM–9 PM to host an artist’s reception and artwork debut. Kate Zambrano will be in attendance and complimentary drinks will be served.
