Piero Spadaro: Making Light

Apr 24 — Jun 6, 2019

Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce the second solo exhibition with Piero Spadaro. The exhibition will be on view from April 24 – June 6, 2019, with an opening reception April 24 from 5:30-7:30.

Piero Spadaro utilizes assorted materials such as glitter, ground pigment, acrylic, textured paper, and resin to create dimensional, layered paintings. In his newest body of work, Spadaro explores the symbolic nature of the triangle, specifically how it is able to transcend various cultures and times, and its ability to shift meanings. Two triangles with points touching reference time, the zig zag of repeating triangles signifies water, and the pursuit of the divine is exemplified through the ancient pyramids.

In response to the current climate, where difference is scrutinized and partitions are encouraged, Spadaro’s painting practice became about communication. As for his materials, Spadaro continues to use glitter in his latest work, actually amplifying his use, speaking to our innate affinity for the shiny object.
