Opening Reception: June 1st, 5:30 – 7:30pm
Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce a two-person exhibition with Ned Evans and Mitch Jones.
“The works hum and throb with a voluptuous energy, though in each, there exists quiet respites to be found within the countless pathways and niches.” – Ned Evans
Ned Evans’ series of Architectonic works explore the dissection and re-assemblage of the geometric form. Through a variety of mediums including acrylic paint, paper and fabric, Evans creates energetic compositions saturated with color where concave forms collide with the convex and shadows collide with light.
“Familiar and reoccurring themes that have been predominant in my work the past fifteen years are strongly present in my latest series of block collage paintings.” – Mitch Jones
For the past fifteen years, Mitch Jones has utilized vintage papers in his series of block collage paintings including records of ancient architecture, astronomy, science and antique maps. Jones selects the printed material used in his art with attention to subject matter, exploring a deeper meaning of the connection between symbolism and the truth.
