“My paintings explore the connection between systems in our environment and how they relate to my own impulse to construct order,” says artist Hadley Radt who has worked in the Bay Area for the majority of the last decade. “The structures I develop become a woven pattern of overlapping and intertwining shapes and lines. The marks become a visual network of intricate systems and patterns that I build and deconstruct by establishing a logic and method.”Radt explores terrains of connections; physical, psychological, emotional, neurological. Curious how the viewer is able to move through the accumulation of marks–finding their own pathways to navigate–the artist is interested in the depiction of these connections and tracking layers of information.

The notion of “terrains of connections” has been a continual motif of Radt’s work over the years. Though her colors, shapes, and compositions have shifted and mutated with time, she has maintained a captivating geometric complexity in her artistic approach. Angles, dots, and lines all converge in stunning undulations, bringing to mind representations of molecules, constellations, data, organic spores, and deep space. The works represented in Moment by Moment showcase a new depth and intensity that is a distinct yet natural progression from previous work. While the visual themes of bonds and connectivity have been a staple throughout her career, these new works display a new, more distilled sophistication in technique and expression. The richer palettes and intricate compositions of these new works suggest new territory, creatively and conceptually for the artist. This new territory is beautiful and fascinating. Moment by Moment is not to be missed.
