This August (2017) will mark the 50 year anniversary of San Francisco’s infamous Summer of Love. This event was highlighted by the largest gathering of Hippies (or Flower Children), the rise of 60’s music legends, and the widespread use of psychedelic drugs, all culminating in the summer of 1967 in the city’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. The late 60s marked the beginning of the counterculture movement that would grow to attract and give rise to the great artists, activists, writers, freethinkers of the 20th century.
The entire city of San Francisco will be celebrating this landmark year with special programs, press coverage, local attention, and events throughout the summer. Modern Eden Gallery is joining in on the festivities with a presentation of artwork from artists from all over the world to seek inspiration from The Summer of Love.

In celebration of this exhibition, Modern Eden Gallery will open it’s doors on the evening of August 12, 2017 from 6 PM–9 PM to host a celebratory reception and artwork debut. Select participating artists will be in attendance, an interactive photo booth, and complimentary drinks will be served.

The exhibition will be on display through September 2, 2017 and is free and open to the public.
Modern Eden Gallery is located at 801 Greenwich St. in San Francisco’s historic North Beach neighborhood. Founded in June 2010 by local artists Bradley Platz and Kim Larson, the gallery features monthly exhibitions of established and emerging artists. The gallery’s contemporary aesthetic ranges from realism to surrealism with a strong focus on illustrative painting and representational sculpture.
