Meyerovich Gallery’s current exhibition, Alex Katz: New and Recent Works, features bright and powerful artworks by one of New York’s leading artist. This exhibition celebrates 30th year anniversary of Alex Katz first exhibition “Paintings, Drawings, Graphics” at Meyerovich Gallery. This show, which runs until November 15, 2016, includes a strong selection of images from this year as well as recent years. The subjects of these bold, large to mid-sized works include black and white portraits, multi-colored still-life, and vibrant flowers created by the artist using an assortment of complex mediums.
Alex Katz (b. 1927) is an internationally acclaimed American artist and regarded as one of the most important and influential artists of his generation. Katz, who lives and works in New York City, has been the subject of more than 200 solo exhibitions since 1951. His works have been collected and exhibited extensively in the US and around the world.
Alex Katz is associated with the Pop Art movement and is known for his bold, hard-edged figurative portraits and landscapes, among the most recognizable images in contemporary art. These new, captivating and colorful artworks on display at Meyerovich Gallery feature two large floral themes: White Impatiens (70 x 56 inches) and White Roses (43 x 86 inches). The exhibition also includes a collection of portraits including three distinctive poses of a bather, in radiating red “Ariel” (36 x 75 inches) an unforgettable and seductively elegant black and white image title “Ariel (Black & White)” (36 x 75 inches).
