Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition by John Belingheri. The reception will be Thursday, November 14, from 5:30-7:30.
Some artists are clear about the message that they want their body of work to communicate, and they ruminate on this before beginning to create. For John Belingheri, this process does not work. In his experience, thinking about the work before he paints has little to no effect on the outcome of the paintings.
Belingheri’s paintings represent processes, sequences, and causal relationships. While he paints, his ideas change, linger, and ultimately evolve into the finished product. His process consists of creating simple forms and colors that overlap one another, and he continues to make and remake a surface until the painting is finished or has transformed. Belingheri’s artwork reflects his fixation on creation.
