Garland of Skulls: Christina Burch

Sep 8 — Oct 2, 2015

“My paintings plumb the imagination, the sense fields and subtle energies to penetrate life’s deeper meanings and inherent poetry. Transformed into a landscape of magical elements, a universe of symbolism, the figure becomes a field of potent and divine energies at play. Rather than the prevailing approach to figuration as mere anatomy or expression, my work is a lyrical exploration of the supra- sensual and poetic dimensions of figuration in painting. Some major artistic influences include Contemporary Art, Italian Art, Japanese Aesthetics, and Tantric Painting. Many of these works are contemplative and some may even be described as approaching a new type of magical realism.”
