There is a bold softness about Suzie’s work—a rich combination of grit and grace. Part celebration, part meditation, her paintings are whimsical, joyful, vibrant and honest.
In his most recent series, Ryan’s work creates an ongoing narrative through the association of similar and dissimilar imagery. Subject matter is scattered with the intention of both portraying an experience, but also being the experience. The paintings embody an improvisation and intensity, which both ignites and neutralizes the underlying meaning. The seemingly random placement and juxtaposition of imagery ask the viewer to question the relationships seen on canvas.
