Mar 4 — Apr 29, 2017

March 4 to April 29, 2017

On view in Minnesota Street Project Atrium + Gallery Space 106

Artist Reception March 4, 6-8pm

Themes+Projects gallery is pleased to exhibit, “Contained Radiance, San Francisco” by Laddie John Dill.  Dill, part of the Light and Space movement, has been crafting light and earthy materials like concrete, glass, sand, and metal into luminous sculptures, wall pieces, and installations since the 1970s. This exhibition contains two site specific installations unique to the San Francisco presentation. In the atrium of the Minnesota Street Project, one encounters an amazing presence of light as  Dill’s Light Sentences adorn each of the nine pillars that span the whole space.

Light Sentences will lead to the second installation on the ground level in Gallery Space 106. Amid the open darkness, one encounters mountains of sand, with a multitude of  colorful long streaks of light. This marks the first solo exhibition in San Francisco for Dill since the mid 1980s.
