Albert Dicruttalo & Mitch Jones | If Not For You

Nov 6 — Dec 20, 2024

Reception: Wednesday, November 6th, 5:30 – 7:30pm

Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce a two-person exhibition with Albert Dicruttalo and Mitch Jones

“Drawing inspiration from the principles of Modernism, I seek to distill complex shapes into pure, elemental forms.” – Albert Dicruttalo

Albert Dicruttalo predominately works with fabricated and cast metal to explore the intersection of form, materiality and space within the modernist tradition. Dicruttalo embraces technology to visualize and design his work, often working from digital designs, drawings and maquettes. Other times the work is spontaneous, evolving from intuition, but always rooted in craftsmanship and aesthetics. In this body of work, Dicruttalo embraces clean lines and geometry, inviting viewers to contemplate the essence of form and its relationship to the surrounding environment.

“This new collection of paintings represents the last four years of my life, a period I would describe as both profound and transformative.” – Mitch Jones

Mitch Jones explores life, loss and renewal in his latest body of work. With the recent passing of friends, loved ones, and his dog of 12 years, Jones turned his focus to his painting. Realizing that confrontation is a large part of his creative process, he was also able to confront his emotions over recent loss. Over the past year, Jones began experimenting with new materials and incorporating iconography symbolic of his journey. The process was cathartic and out of it came a sense of strength and new beginnings.
